Obtaining a POC

The CBAA Private Operator Certificate program links performance-based standards to an individual operator's safety management system.

CBAA's POC Program is an essential and  valuable business tool for business aircraft operators in Canada.  The process for obtaining a  POC requires operators to profile the safety-risks involved in their operation. This, in turn, determines the appropriate level and focus of safety management.

Based on the completed risk profile, the manual and procedures for the operation are tailored to address specific areas of risk. Ongoing monitoring and audits provide feedback to continuously improve the management of safety and forecast potential risks. The safety management system also requires senior management commitment and support.

Audits are required to ensure compliance with the CBAA standards and the operator's individual safety management system. CBAA trained and accredited auditors will perform audits, as contracted directly by the operator. Once an operator has successfully completed an audit, they will submit the appropriate documentation to the CBAA, who will issue the Private Operator Certificate. Periodic audits will be required to ensure continued compliance with the standards.
